Support for Ross Bowers and his family

Help us raise funds to support Ross Bowers and his family following an horrific eye injury

Due to the overwhelming response we have received, and with ongoing fundraising efforts, we are extending this campaign again to a 4th target of £30,000. With no timeframes on when, if any, insurance money will be paid we want to ensure that Ross and his family have as long possible to focus on recovery and not worry about paying bills and supporting themselves.

This past weekend Milton Keynes ice hockey stalwart, and all round good guy, Ross Bowers was struck accidentally by a high stick from an opposing player. He has been informed that even after 3 or 4 more surgeries the best he can hope for in that eye will be able to tell if a light in a room is on or off.

Only having sight in one eye, after a lifetime of good vision, will put his off ice career in serious jeopardy and he certainly won't be able to work any time in the near future - though he is determined to get back to normal life.

This will put financial pressure on girlfriend, Nicola, and he also has a 13 year old daughter, Ellie to support.

The 4000 and Counting crew want to set this GoFundMe page up to help support Rossco and his family through this difficult time. He is one of our own and true legend of MK hockey. Always one to bring a smile to people's faces and play with the grit of a warrior, this is the least we can do to help him. Ross is a veteran of over 500 games in Milton Keynes colours, and winner of 5 EPL championships.

The EIHA insurance is notoriously bad and pay out at a fraction of the real world losses suffered by players, let's all dig deep to help. £5,000 is a of what he would normally bring in financially for two months, to help him and his family while insurance claims are made and he rebuilds his hand eye coordination. Anything beyond £5,000 will of course help further, so please keep donating if we go beyond this target.
