Rowan's Pelvic Surgury

Donation protected
Rowan is a fun, sweet, 2 1/2 year old Ibizan hound who loves everyone he meets. As a breed ambassador with the group Hounds of East Fairhaven he helps support charities for other sighthounds and was undergoing training to become a therapy dog later this year.

Unfortunately yesterday at 12:20 he slipped out behind me as I was going to work and decided to take an adventure. While myself and my fiance immediately pursued him, he outpaced us in the blink of an eye. By 12:42, we were on the way to the vet.

Rowan had been the victim of a hit and run accident.

Thankfully his first instinct was to come running home, and we rushed him to Pharr Road animal clinic where they determined that he didn't suffer any immediately life threatening trama... But that his pelvis was badly broken. For a young active dog, this news was still crushing. Now at a second vet, as I write this Rowan is undergoing surgery to give him a functional leg and hopefully a shot at a somewhat normal life. In addition to his smashed right pelvic joint Rowan also suffered severe trama to his left hock. He will never again participate in some of the dog sports he loved so much, but my hope remains that with this surgery and a LOT of physical therapy that he can eventually return to a pain free life and in turn provide love and therapy to others who need it.

Thank you in advance for anything you can do to help, dear reader, weather it is a dollar or a share, everything helps.

Any amount that does not go towards his surgery will be put towards his physical therapy following his recovery. Anything beyond that will be donated.
