Lady Student Toilets for Rwanda

Lady student toilets are needed...

In 2014, a crowd funding project was set up to purchase computers for the Groupe Scolaire Kampanga Public School in Kinigi, Rwanda. After limited success the school wished to address a more dire issue being the lack of female restrooms. The school's, which has well over 2,000 students, current facilities are shared and lack the proper plumbing and standards for female students. In addition, the restrooms do not accomodate handicapped students.

Please stay with this site and look at all the information we were able to assemble to show you how well we have prepared this project with the important input of the school principal Jean de Dieu Twagirimana.   We have design plans, a complete construction bid and photos.

Please read and look below for much more detail:

To Whom It May Concern,

G.S. Kampanga provides education to 120 nursery school kids, 1230 primary pupils and 946 secondary school students. The school faces many challenges in terms of infrastructures. The urgent problem to be dealt with nowadays is the girl’s room and toilet insufficiency in order to alleviate girl’s academic performance drawbacks. The project aims at promoting girls academic performance by increasing the number of toilets used by girls and making available a particular hygienic room to help girls coping with menstrual period cleaning and other various hygienic requirements.

Considering the number of girls from primary to secondary that keeps increasing, 500 girls sharing 10 toilets in secondary school, the toilets for girls are no longer enough so that it is an obvious need of at least 10 new toilets. Building new toilets for girls will help avoiding the time spent by girls waiting for a long time to enter the toilet. Thus, the project success leads to a considerable step in avoiding the delay and frustrations in studies which brings in a great difference between female and male learners in academic performance.

In this perspective, the GS Kampanga community would like to express our thanks to all our partners and friends, especially the people from Florida in USA for the contribution and support they will bring to this girl’s toilet project successfulness.
