Run for Relief: El Salvador Trip
Donation protected
Valle Nuevo is a rural farming community in El Salvador. The entire population of Valle Nuevo and surrounding villages was displaced throughout most of the 1980s because of the brutal civil war. After returning from Honduras, the people of Valle Nuevo rebuilt their homes and farms and established a Directiva to develop income generating enterprises to benefit the community, especially young people who are often targeted by gangs.
At the request of the Valle Nuevo Directiva, World Hunger Relief has partnered with this community for almost a decade, offering guidance on vegetable production, processing, and marketing of products.
To continue and strengthen this partnership, I will be traveling to El Salvador this summer to connect with community leaders and learn how we can better serve our brothers and sisters there.
I need to raise some funds for my plane tickets, transportation within the country, lodging, and for supplies for a rain catchment system the local preschool has requested. To do this, I need your help. Please consider giving to this fund and I promise to run one mile for every $50 donated. Hopefully that will be 40 miles! I’ll run these miles one morning at Cameron Park and you’re welcome to come out and watch or run a few with me.
Thanks for your time!
