Running for Roxhill Elementary
Donation protected
West Seattle's Roxhill Elementary, where my son is entering first grade, is moving to the historic, renovated E.C. Hughes Elementary in fall 2018. Roxhill serves a broad spectrum of kids, including English language learners and those with special needs, with more than 80 percent of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch. We're a great community who deserves equitable access to the tools and resources we need to be successful.
Parents and community members started a new nonprofit -- Friends of Roxhill Elementary -- to support the school.
I'm running the 2017 Seattle Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 26, in honor of our community. The next one will happen in the spring, but I haven't decided yet. Maybe it'll be along one of King County's gorgeous mountain trails.
All funds go to Friends of Roxhill Elementary. (A marathon is 26.2 miles, if you forgot, so that's where the $2,620 came from.)
