Help Russ Beat Cancer

In the spring of 2016, at the age of 33, Russ Hoober was diagnosed with myoepithelioma carcinoma, an incredibly rare soft tissue cancer. He found a bump on his right thigh and went to his doctor. His primary care doctor didn’t know what it was, but knew it shouldn't be there, so the doc sent Russ to get an ultra sound. He did and then it was off to the specialist to get a biopsy. This was followed by surgery to remove the tumor. Following the surgery a second biopsy was conducted and the tumor was determined to be myoepithelioma carcinoma, a rare soft tissue cancer. There is almost no information on this type of cancer and its treatment. Go ahead and google it. All you'll get is abstracts for scholarly journal articles.
Russ is a loving husband to Ashley and father to his two and half year old, Augustine. He teaches U.S. government, macroeconomics and U.S. history to high school seniors and juniors and philosophy and political science to college students. Anyone who has met Russ knows he loves what he does! He has commited his life to helping young people come to a knowledge of the world around them and the God who made that world.
Many have asked how they can help the Hoober Family during this time. We have created a GoFundMe account to help offset the cost of Russ’ treatment. The Hoober's have already accumlated some costs due to Russ' treatment and forsee more coming. Russ is already so grateful to his family, friends, students and community for their generous support. He is confident that the Lord is for him in this and is looking to him for strength. Please keep the Hoober Family in your prayers as Russ begins his journey to beat cancer.
