Emotional Support Chickens
Donation protected

My name is David Wallace and I am a 39 year old father of 2. My wife is a stay at home mom to our 13 year old son and 5 year old daughter. Two years ago we moved out of our townhouse and bought a fixer upper so our kids could grow up with a yard. We started a vegetable garden and hatched chicks.
I have struggled with major depression, anxiety and OCD my entire life. My 4 hens proved to be quite beneficial for my mental state. After a year and a half with my hens I received a violation notice from the township informing me that the keeping of “livestock” was not permitted in my zoning district even though we have 1.29 acres. My hens had to be relocated and I don’t get to see them very often.
Since then my mental state has deteriorated. I asked my township for a reasonable accommodation under the fair housing act in order for my hens to return and my therapist provided medical documentation stating that my chickens were emotional support animals. The township’s attorney denied my request because he didn’t want to set a precedent, but he did say I have a good case to apply for a variance which costs $1,000.
I am humbly asking for donations to cover the cost of the variance so I can benefit from my emotional support animals and be the husband and father my family needs. Any donations received over $1,000 would go towards legal representation.
