Sadie Kidney Donation Expense Fund
Donation protected
The story you are about to read is about an incredibly selfless and kind woman...
When Sadie heard that her friend Marsha was in need of a kidney transplant, she ran herself through the database out of curiousity. Marsha was in Stage 5 Kidney Failure, also known as End Stage Renal Failure (ESRD), where kidney function drops below 10-15%. She knew Marsha from a local mothers organization Moms for Life (formerly known as MOPS) and continued their relationship as Marsha was a frequent visitor of the hospital Sadie worked at. After the results came back, Sadie discovered she was a match to be a kidney donor for Marsha. After talking it over with her family, Sadie decided she wanted to help Marsha and agreed to donate one of her kidneys.
This June, Sadie and Marsha will be flying to Denver for surgery. While the procedure itself will be covered for Sadie, there are still a number of financial expenses that she and her family will have to pay. They will need money for airfare, meal expenses, as well as a week stay at a Denver hotel for post-surgery visits at the hospital. Sadie will also have to take off 6 weeks of work for recovery for which she will not be compensated. Including loss of income, they are estimating the cost for her donation to be around $4000 (plus one kidney).
To anticipate for unexpected expenses, we are looking to raise $5000 for Sadie and her family so that she can give the gift of life to Marsha. Sadie is a loving mother to three beautiful kids: Zane, McKinley, and Aria. She works hard to provide for them along side her husband David. We would love to take away any emotional or finanancial concerns that they would undoubtably go through if they were to have to pay out of their own pocket. We are going to be raising money through August as Sadie will still be in recovery then, but are looking to raise most of the funds beforehand to help offset the inital airfare and hotel costs. Let's all do our part to give back to the Dierking family as they so selflessly give to another. Anyone who knows Sadie knows that her twinkling brown eyes and contagious smile can brighten anyone's day! Now let's brighten hers by showing some love and support for her and her family. Whether you can give $5 or $500, thank you for your donation!
