Safe Home for the Gates Family
Donation protected
The Gates Family recently purchased what was going to be a perfect home for their family of 5. Jason, Amanda, their 7 year old daughter, 5 year old son and 6 month old baby boy had been renting in the area for the past two years and even purchased a home in the same neighborhood they rented in because they love the area so much. Soon after purchasing the home, it was discovered that it had previously been exposed to toxic levels of Methamphetamine commonly referred to as Crystal Meth. This was never disclosed through paperwork, nor was it revealed through the home inspection. The house was foreclosed on, then bought at Auction, and the Gates family purchased it from that individual. The party foreclosing on the house did not disclose the drug use/contamination nor did the individual who purchased the house at Auction. Due to the type of smoke that is released by this lethal drug, it has been absorbed by almost every square inch of the house. They have had to leave their home and can't move their family back in until it has been decontaminated. The house will need to be decontaminated by taking it down to the studs in some rooms and to the sheetrock in the rest of the home and disposing and replacing everything else to include carpet, flooring, doors, cabinets etc and even some personal belongings including their sons glasses. The cost for this young family is astronomical. We are currently trying to raise money to cover the decontamination which is $11,570. After demo, decontamination, home encapsulation and replacing everything they had to dispose of, they are looking at much higher costs. Any extra raised will go towards encapsulation and rebuilding!
We are asking for you to please give whatever you can to help this wonderful family from this devastating financial burden.
***We also hope that by exposing this horrific experience, we can help save another individual/family from going through the same nightmare. Methamphetamine contamination is not a required test to perform during inspection. There is a $50.00 inspection kit that can save innocent families like this a lot of money and possible health problems down the road. Although this test is not required, it could help many families from getting into this same horrible situation. If you are in the process of purchasing a home, or you will be in the future, whether it is a foreclosure, or seller owned, please insist that this test is done. The home in this case had been painted and surface cleaned making any kind of toxic contamination invisible to potential buyers. But a test will still pick up on toxins despite cosmetic repairs.***
Thank you so much for helping the Gates Family decontaminate their home so it can be safe for them to live in.
