Cunningham Family
On Sunday, 02/12/2017, Germayne and Lisa Cunningham's beautiful daughter, Sanaa, passed away unexpectedly. Sanaa Cunningham was a vibrant, energetic little girl. Over the last two years she was battling a series of mental and physical health issues that were improperly diagnosed on several occasions. In December, she was officially diagnosed with unspecified schizophrenia, opposition defiant disorder and autism spectrum along with other issues related to these mental illnesses. In the span of two years, this vibrant, energetic child’s quality of life continued to decline mentally and physically. Doctors had prescribed a series of medications over the last year to help with her illnesses but it was not effective. Within the last few weeks, she was prescribed an anti-psychotic medication from her doctor. She experienced several severe side effects after just a few weeks from this medication which ultimately resulted in the cause of her death.
Germayne is a Detective with the Phoenix Police Department and Lisa stays at home to care for all of the children and the home. Sanaa has 5 other siblings between the ages of 19 years to 14 months. Germayne and Lisa work very hard to care for their family without any assistance from family. Wherever they go, their children go. This family is one solid unit and is trying to grieve over the loss of a child and sister. No family is ever prepared to lose a child and with this unexpected lose comes unexpected expenses. Germayne has used most of his leave due to back surgery recently and he is the primary provider in the home. As the Cunningham’s are trying to get through the gravity of planning a funeral for their baby girl, I do not think the added financial stress should play a factor. So with that being said, I am asking for some assistance from family, friends, co-workers and the community to help alleviate some of this financial burden. Proceeds will be used to help with funeral expenses, groceries and any other bills that will need attention so Germayne does not have to worry about returning to work right away and they can take some time to grieve their loss. We appreciate all the help they can get whether it is a financial contribution, a cooked meal or just a small prayer.
