This is for Sandy Hendricks, a 58 year old widow who has been diagnosed with Colon Cancer. Her faith in God is what has kept her going since her surgery this past September.
She is an amazing woman, friend and neighbor whose smile can lighten up any room and her laugh is absolutely contagious. She is one of the most positive people I know and despite her diagnosis continues to believe that everything will be O.K.
She is no stranger to the battle she has ahead, since she cared for her husband for over two years before his passing from Lung Cancer in 2011. As most of you may know, cancer treatments a very expensive and are not always completely covered through insurance. So, when God finally called him home they had depleted all retirement, savings and any little money they had left.
It was a struggle that she tried to handle alone, all the while caring for her mother who lived with her up until her passing in June of 2015.
As an only child and with no other family to help her, she will need to have Chemo treatments for a minimum of six months. This will all depend on the results of a liver biopsy that is scheduled before the end of this year, due to a mass the Doctors found in her liver at the time of her first surgery. Depending upon those results she may also require a second surgery to remove a portion of her liver.
Sandy is a Realtor and has not been able to work since her surgery, which is why we need to help her. After all it tis “The Season for Giving” and it’s also a TAX write off!! I thought a little humor would help at this point.
There is nothing worse than for her to have to fight this battle alone, while also having the added worry of whether she will be able to pay for her household bills, her groceries, her medical treatments, her medications and anything else that she may need during this time.
Sandy is a fighter!! She says that she is here for a reason and that God has given her a sense of peace within.
Every little bit will help and is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for all of your support and prayers. Let’s make Sandy’s Christmas a little brighter and show her the kindness she so very much deserves.
Thank you,
Dawn Andalora
