This campaign is to help raise money for Sara's medical bills and other expenses. It will also provide updates on her care and condition.
Over the past 15 years, Sara has built a career at her hometown public library. After receiving a Master's of Library and Information Science, she became a reference librarian and continued to provide excellent service to the community. Eventually, her positive attitude provided her the opportunity for a promotion to management. Along with her career, Sara spends time with her husband Tyson, their families, and three dogs. She also is a novice beekeeper.
Starting in early fall of 2015, Sara thought she was just fighting a terrible respiratory infection. After numerous doctor visits and unsuccesful rounds of medication, she made a visit to Grady emergency room and was immediately transferred to Riverside hospital. In the next few weeks, Sara was diagnosed with a rare disorder called Wegener's Granulomatosis. Wegener's, to put it simply, is an autoimmune disorder that causes inflammation of the blood vessels that may cause damage to the major organs of the body. She was released from Riverside after a few days and scheduled for rounds of tests to confirm the diagnosis.
Unfortunately, a few days before Christmas, Sara was admitted back to Riverside with a serious blood clot in her left leg. Due to complication of the blood clot and the Wegener's, blood flow could not be restored and Sara has to have her left foot amputed in the next few days.
Our goal for this campaign is to raise money to help offset some of the Kennedys' medical expenses. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to work with Sara, know that she would be there for us if we were in a similiar situation. We are hoping this campaign will help make this situation less stressful for Sara and her family so that she can concentrate on the important business of recovery.
Thank you.
