Saugus Cheer Varsity Comp is headed to Florida!

On November 10, 2018, the Saugus High School Cheer Varsity Competition Team qualified, and received an invitation, to compete at the National High School Cheer Championship (NHSCC) next February in Orlando, FL. Not only is the NHSCC the most prestigious competitive cheerleading championship in the country, this competition is the only competition that allows high school competitive cheer teams to be Nationally ranked. The NHSCC is nationally televised on ESPN and ESPN2, reaching over 100 million homes and 32 countries each year. Last year over 800 teams (approximately 15,000 athletes) competed in the three day event.
Saugus High School Cheer prides itself in being the only high school in the Santa Clarita Valley (CA), that has continuously maintained a competitive cheer program for the past 10 years. Our girls practice extremely hard to be successful and to make what they do look easy. A competition routine takes months to perfect, and the team only has one opportunity at every competition to get it right. Their love and passion for their sport, and the team support and effort it takes to compete at their level, comes through with each and every performance they give.
As with many public high schools, the Saugus Cheer program does not receive any funding from our high school or our school district. The Saugus Cheer program is completely funded by the generous support of our cheerleaders families, friends, neighbors and local community sponsors. As you can imagine, the cost of getting a team (and the coaches) across the country to compete, will be expensive. Our cheerleaders would be so appreciative of any support you may be willing to share.
This team of athletes will continue to work hard over the next two months to prepare for their quest of being named National Champions. They will go to Florida with great pride in representing Saugus High School and the community of Santa Clarita, CA.
