I suffer from cardiac conditions (having had several angioplasties and stents inserted since 2007); kidney disease; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; diabetic neuropathy; osteoarthritis; and, unsurprisingly, severe depression and panic disorder.
In December, 2016, I was discharged from my job. Since then, I've been living on my savings, some help from friends and family, and my wits (my unemployment benefits expired in 2017). I applied for Social Security disability benefits in January 2017, but still am waiting for an administrative judicial hearing.
Right now, I am several months behind on my rent (thank heavens my landlord is an understanding sort!), I struggle to pay my utilities, and nobody seems interested in buying what personal items I have to sell.
Frankly, I'm quite near the end of my rope.
