For almost 30 years, Marion Therapeutic Riding Association, Inc. (a 501c3 corporation) has been generously providing the miraculous benefits of therapeutic horseback riding to the very special exceptional students at the Hillcrest School...AT NO COST to the students or to Marion County Public Schools.
With the rising cost of feeding and maintaining our horses, liability insurance, utilities, equipment, maintenance of the facility and having to educate, train and pay our instructors, it is simply not economically feasible for us to provide these services during the next school year (September 2014) without some major financial assistance.
We are asking for your help to keep this very vital program moving forward. Our Hillcrest students that participate in therapeutic horseback riding actually test significantly higher in their mastery tests than the other students. They love and look forward to their time with our instructors and their equine friends. If we discontinued this program at Hillcrest, it is highly unlikely that any of these students would be able to travel to our Greenway location to continue their lessons. Many are severely disabled and transportation by their already burdened families is not a possibility.
With your help, we can keep this program in place. Please give generously and let's show these extraordinary students that we care!
