Save Salvo Art Project
Donation protected
If you're reading this it's important to know that you're here on our GoFundMe page because of my former student (now fellow studio artist here at Salvo) Harrison Huijskens , who first created this page. Without this page and the support we received from our patrons, it's highly unlikely that Salvo Art Project would have survived. Practically all of the money we raised until April went towards getting us into our new location, and the subsequent donations have helped us considerably with the renovations we are currently conducting. It is important, though, that we establish our Mission here and what we intend to achieve :
" It is our goal to provide an inspiring, creative work environment for our studio artists and the students who come to the Salvo Arthouse. We also want to play an important role in our community by providing creative opportunities that enrich lives, and support and foster artistic creativity in ways that serve humanity."
As we finish the interior renovations , our plans include creation of a tag wall for neighborhood kids who want to participate in mural projects; to build an outdoor stage for fall and spring concerts; and create vignettes of sitting areas and outdoor work stations for plein air painters and sculptors. We will offer after school classes; classes for homeschooled children as well as adult classes; and we will host artist talks. Additionally, Salvo Arthouse will frequently hold open studio nights, and invite guest artists to showcase their work . We understand that we cannot accomplish all of this overnight, but are willing to work diligently to not only achieve our visions and goals but also to expand upon them.
In order to show gratitude to those who chose to contribute through this GoFundMe page, I will continue to create small paintings in an ongoing series entitled " The Builder Paintings ". We will periodically draw from the names of donors and you may receive an original work of art. If you donate anonymously, we will use those works to raise money for the Flagler Free Clinic on the nights we have Open House exhibits. To date we have given away 7 original works of art. It is important to note that other artists are now participating and contributing work as well. We will document these works as well as the recipients. In January we will also continue to raise money for the Flagler Youth Orchestra by hosting a yearly concert. It is our fundamental belief that we should support good causes, even in times when we could use that support, and not wait on good fortune to dictate our generosity.
One day we hope to create a book that tells a very unique and beautifully illustrated story of how a small group of artists used their talents to create something magical and unique and served to expand the creative spirit in our small but growing art community.
Sincerely, JJ Graham ( Salvo Arthouse )
