Save EBA

East Bay Arts High School is in DANGER, and WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! Our district has proposed to close East Bay Arts and move all the students and the teachers to other schools within the district. This means that students in their freshman, sophomore and junior years will not have the opportunity to finish what they started. Which, if we all remember, is hard as growing adults. We must NOT allow this to happen. To an outsider, the closing of a small learning community like EBA may seem unimportant, but it would be a devastating event for the students, teachers and staff of East Bay Arts. As anyone who has experienced East Bay Arts firsthand can tell you, this school is more than just a place of learning.  It is a remarkable family of teachers and students working together to accomplish the extraordinary.

Please don't let the name fool you, although East Bay Arts is an arts-based school, it is first and foremost a College Preparatory High School.  EBA, in the 7 years since graduating its first class of seniors in 2009, has had the highest rate of students in the district who complete all UC and CSU A-G requirements.  With that accomplishment, it comes as no surprise that our students have been accepted into every UC. Although EBA prepares its students to thrive academically, East Bay Arts also gives students a multitude of opportunities to develop as artists. Why is this important? Art in any form (drama, dance, visual art, music, etc.) fosters creativity, self-expression, and communication. Art builds strong community by reaching everyone regardless of race, socioeconomic status, gender or religious belief, thus creating a strong sense of belonging and purpose.

East Bay Arts Community has become a place for students to feel safe, a second home to most. EBA is a FAMILY. East Bay Arts has broken the mold and has become a sanctuary for minorities, bullied students and LGBTQ youth.

Slowly, due to budget cuts and other extenuating circumstances, we have begun to lose the ARTS at East Bay Arts. The Alumni have agreed to pledge their time to change that by creating an all ART based AFTER-SCHOOL program. Our pledge is 1-2 hours twice a week to teach a form of art. Unfortunately, this only possible with YOUR help.

We need to raise money, not only to show that we, as a community, believe in EBA, but to be able to fund the years to follow. We need to keep East Bay Arts open to everyone who wants to be there. This GOFUNDME page is to be able to do just that. To be able to let those who attend currently the ability to finish their hogh school carrers at the school that they call "home" and to give new students the chance to discove why it is that we are fighting so hard to keep it open. The chance for new student to discover why EAST BAY ARTS is for many a second HOME. It would mean the world to everyone in the EBA community to have your support. To be able to keep East Bay Arts a Sanctuary not only for our students, but our community as well.
