#SaveGDog From Eviction

The Situation:

A neighbor filed a bogus complaint against my legitimate Emotional Support Dog, Gomgpae. He has not bitten or harmed anyone. My landlord served me a 3 day notice, saying I had to get rid of him in 3  days or be evicted. That was not possible, reasonable, or legal. We tried resolve this, but they not will work with us, and are now trying to evict us. So now we need your help!

I have a legitimate doctors note, and he is covered under the American Disabilities Act as an ESA dog. So this illegal, but I’m stuck because I can’t afford to hire a lawyer and pay rent, which would mean I’d be out on the streets either way. I can’t give him up, because he’s an 8 year old large dog, with arthritis and most of his teeth are gone. He is not likely to be adopted again and would most likely spend the rest of his life in a kennel. 

I’m scrambling to raise money to hire a lawyer to save his him, and our home.

All money raised will first go towards legal fees, expenses related to his defense, and establishing a safety net in case the landlord tries something like this again, and to obtain more training and certification to substantiate what a great dog he already is. Any money left over will go towards Gomgpae's long-term care to keep him happy, healthy, and safe. He's a sweet dog and does not deserve to die in a cage.


About Gomgpae:

Gomgpae is an 8 year old American Staffordshire. 65 pounds of love and cuddles! When he was roughly 5 years old he was found on the streets of LA with scars on his legs and most of his teeth missing. He spent over 2 years in various shelters. Sadly not adopted due to his age, size, and stigma against pit bulls. I'm also a misfit, so we get each other! That's why I chose him. I could tell he was a sweet old boy who deserved a loving home. 


Not only is Gomgpae my Emotional Support Animal, he is also my Lyft/Uber co-pilot! Passengers love him, and he loves riding shotgun around town!

Why the weird name? His original name was Vinny, but I renamed him. Gomgpae is Korean for "gangster." My Mom is Korean. When I was little she said I was a brat, and I reminded her of a little gangster, so that was her nickname for me. I always thought that would be a cute name for a dog. 

He's been a true blessing. A sweet cuddle monster. A faithful best friend. My world.

Originally from Indiana, I'm a struggling filmmaker, photographer, and LGBT activist, making ends meet doing Uber and Lyft. A pretty typical story in LA these days. The last few years have really kicked me in the teeth. My Dad passed away, I've been injured in 2 major car accidents, lost some close friends, and faced some devastating career setbacks. Like so many others, I'm out in the big city alone, and can rarely afford the flight home to see family. All this left me feeling lost, fighting severe depression and anxiety. I was losing my battle, until my therapist recommended getting an ESA dog. He's made such a big difference in my life. I would not be here without him. Just as I was pulling myself up, this happened.
