About Red Pirates
Red Pirates is one of the oldest and most unique bars on Boracay, coupled with the best Paraw sailing crew on the island. It has been a community institution, based in the region of Angol, for over 15 years and is popular with both locals and ex-pats, with value for money drinks and live acoustic music every single night. It is one of the warmest and most welcoming bars in the world.
Pirates, as it is affectionately known to those that live there, is one of the last remaining native island bars, and is completely true to the old Boracay essence and spirit.
Pirates is a bar and place that provides both a haven and income for many of the talented local Filipino musicians within the Boracay community. It epitomises the true soul of island life.
The Cause and Current Situation
Unfortunately, due to the closure of Boracay and the new rulings being brought in to the island, Red Pirates is being demolished and will no longer be part of the essence and fabric of Boracay. Not only does this mean the island loses possibly one of its most venerable and long lasting institutions, but it also means putting the wonderful people that work there out of a job. This will affect them to a massive extent and not just them but, their families, their children and they may have to leave the island with no idea of what happens next.
How YOU Can Help!
We can stop this from happening. Red Pirates can be rebuilt. All it needs is a little help from you to fund the rebuild and help the staff get through this next 6 months of closure. If 1000 people just donate ten pounds each (14 dollars!) , we can save one of the best bars on the planet.
