Saving Our Kitten Shadow (FIP)
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Shadow & I’m a 4 month old ragdoll kitten. A few days ago my parents noticed I wasn’t quite myself and my belly was super swollen despite my small size. We went to the vet this morning & got some unfortunate news.
I was diagnosed with FIP, or Feline Infectious Peritonitis. It is a mutation of feline coronavirus that was considered to be 100% fatal up until a few years ago. Cost of treatment is very high because of the need for daily injections, many tests and ultrasounds, on top of regular vet check-ups. It will be a long 6+ month healing journey, but my parents are determined to save me just like they had with my brother, Artic.
You read that right… we just went through this grueling treatment process for my older brother who was diagnosed back in February. He is in observation after months of treatment and doing extremely well.
We have been assured by several in the FIP community & our vet that FIP is not contagious and this was just an unfortunate coincidence.
But as you can imagine, after going through this costly treatment with one kitten already, my parents need your help. I do not need to die. I do not need to become a victim of this illness. Treatment is available and incredibly successful. Please consider donating to help my mom & dad save my life, like they just had for my brother.
