Life saving operation for Checko

Donation protected
We hate to ask people for money to help but we have no other form of helping these strays so hope you will read this lovely boy's story and help him, even with a couple of pounds. Checko had a terrible life in Spain and was found in a badly emaciated state. He was not only thin but had bad dysplasia in both hips - though he was in a lovely shelter, what Checko really needed was his own warm home, with proper food and exercise. Homing Checko was a difficult experience for us, and took us much time and expense. Finally, as we thought that there was no hope for Checko (he is the size of a small pony and with bad hips he wasn't the easiest candidate for adoption), a lovely lady offered to foster him. He blossomed there and became a real part of the family, even the resident alpha male accepted him because he was so sweet and playful. Finally Checko had the life that he so very much deserved! He was finally so happy and it really didn't seem fair to  move him so his lovely foster Anna agreed to become his long term foster carer. We said that we would cover his vet bills but little did we know that tragedy was around the corner and this would all happen sooner rather than later. On Friday night, Checko became seriously ill and his foster mum rushed him to the vet. He had the most terrible combination - a ruptured spleen and a twisted gut. It was touch and go as to whether he would survive the surgery but this amazingly brave boy pulled through. The vet also found that Checko had a serious heart murmur, probably brought on by the operation. We didn't hold out much hope but had to give him a chance and he has taken it with all four paws! He is trying so hard to pull through and has improved hugely though he is now back on a drip as he is refusing liquids. The vet thinks that it is worth us fighting for Checko as he is showing signs of improvement but we are left with a huge vet bill which is growing daily. Our emergency fund is empty and we are doing all we can to help but urgently need help. If you can find any way to help us, we would be more than grateful. We are a registered not for profit and charity and any evidence/vet bills etc can be shown to prove that this is a genuine fundraiser - please just ask. Thank you so much.
