As many of you know our dearest Samara Brock has had 6 years of chronic pain due to exposure to mold, coupled with her body’s extreme mold allergy. Sadly, over the past few months, Samara’s condition has evolved into a rare condition, which has caused chronic GI (gastrointestinal) pain. Samara has seen every major specialist in Chicagoland and even been to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, IN. All tests have rendered no hope for a cause nor a remedy. Her condition remains a mystery to the medical community.
Her health has reached critical levels most recently, because the extreme pain caused from eating and/or drinking, has led to her severe dehydration and malnourishment. She is confined to a feeding tube, whereby, she can only tolerate a very small portion of food or liquids. Already in a constant daily level 8 pain, when she eats or drinks her pain quickly elevates to a level 9.5. Currently, she is receiving treatment for the immediate goal of raising her weight, her strength and her hope! Each day is a struggle for Samara and her entire family, but they remain hopeful that her cure is within reach.
During this time, Michael had been out of work for over 8 months without the ability to afford any healthcare insurance for his family. As Samara's condition worsened, Michael took a new job, but is still awaiting medical benefits.
Many have helped with encouraging words, cards, gifts, prayers and visitations, which are all greatly appreciated by the Brock & Barbush families. Additionally, others have asked how they can contribute or assist with Samara’s ongoing healthcare needs, so here is this site dedicated to her immediate healthcare costs. Any amount is humbly appreciated.
