#SayHerName Pgh Vigil for #TWOC

Donation protected
Since January 1 of this year, seven trans women of color have lost their lives to senseless violence.  We are organizing our second vigil in Pittsburgh to honor their lives and the lives of all members of our community, especially QTPOC, who have lost their lives. The vigil is Saturday, April 1 at 5:30 PM in Point State Park.

This vigil is organized by SisTers Pgh to bring visibility and justice to those lost.  As editor of Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents, I am so pleased to organize this fundraiser to support this important effort. Funds will be used to pay for expenses of organizing the vigil including supplies as well as to offer the speakers a honorarium.  We'll need promotional materials, candles, the fee to rent a sound system, etc.

SisTers PGH Founder Ciora Thomas is the host and 1 of our keynote speakers alongside Kimberly Jivers Celeste Marie Pittsburgh Progressive Women's Network Dena Stanley Trans YouNiting La'Tasha D. Mayes New Voices Pittsburgh Shanea Leonard Judah Fellowship and Naheen Cavalleri True "T" Entertainment as well as a few Special Guests.

Visibility must be demanded of the senseless murders happening around the country towards Trans women and cisgender women of color, the majority of the killings going silenced,  the reason we #sayhername

Intersectionality is the utmost importance in forming visibility for the displaced and silenced. As we come together to #sayhername we must keep in mind her name will never be silenced but instead affirmed everyday we fight for #blacklivesmatter #blacktranslivematter

The funds will go to Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents and we will transfer them to Ciora Thomas of SisTers United. Anything raised beyond the costs of the vigil will be used by SisTers to continue their important work supporting trans women of color in this region.

We launched this effort on the #DayWithoutWomen to tap into the intersectional realities of the sacrifices women of color experience without consent or choice - the loss of their lives or violence to their person by a society that devalues their worth. Please honor the spirit of the day with a modest donation to this important project.
