Scaramouche Sailing Project

The Scaramouche Sailing Project is Britain's only comprehensive inner-city school sail training programme. Since its foundation, it has become the first comprehensive state school to compete in the Rolex Fastnet Race, mentored young people into professional careers in sailing and it has given them access to a sport otherwise deemed out of their reach.
The project continues to receive international media attention and prestigious awards while receiving recognition from Royalty and some of the world's most high-profile sailors. We currently have a goal of being the first school ever to compete in back to back Fastnet races on our own yacht, Scaramouche. The UK is an island nation with a proud tradition of resilience and determination. We aim to enable other schools to access these qualities through practical help and guidance.
We hope then to become the first state school ever to complete a trans-Atlantic voyage with our multi-cultural crew. To do that we have 3 aims:
1) To develop our own sailing programme with a dedicated all-girls crew
2) To provide practical and workable solutions to more schools, using our experience to increase schools youth participation in sailing
3) To set up a framework for older sailors from our programme to mentor the younger aspiring sailors
With your donation, we can get more young people out on the water, provide the support they need to they maintain their interest over a long period of time and ensure that schools are helped in a practical way to get their students out sailing.
