A new ocular prosthesis and surgery
Donation protected
I was involved in an auto accident in 1989. I broke every bone in my face, and lost my right eye. Even after 45 surgical procedures, there is still work to be done. Although "pre existing" isn't supposed to be a negative term for insurance companies, I am still having a difficult time getting some of the costs covered. The new glass eye that is required costs $2800.00, and considered not medically necessary by my insurance company. It is recommended that I have another procedure done on my right lower eyelid so the prosthesis sits better. That is an estimated $9000.00. I am not one to ask for handouts, but having exhausted the $100,000 I received from the settlement over 10 years ago, I have run out of options.
Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you.
