School Water System - Cambodia

We have been working with the Phrei Kla Village Primary School for the last two years to improve their school experience for the children who attend. We care deeply about this school and the students and want to work together on something that can be sustainable. Our next project will be implementing a new water system which will have many benefits.


Our plan: 
-Build a hand washing station
-Buy a large water storage container (2000 liters)
-Build a cement stand for the water storage container
-Build a roof to protect the water storage container 

Benefits:
-Cleanliness. The school currently has a bathroom, but there is no place to wash their hands. This will provide a space where they can do it easily - making it a common practice. We plan to work with the school to implement a way to teach students the proper way to wash their hands. We will also be providing soap.
-Access to water. Most students do not have running water at home, and due to the dry dirt outside, it is not easy to stay clean. Having access to water will help them to stay sanitary in an easy way. 
-Access to drinking water at school. After the completion of this project, we will be purchasing a water purifier so that the water is safe to drink. 
-School garden. Water will be used to help students run their school garden, where students have access to what grows.
