Help me stay in school

While the struggle of the injured Colombian GM workers has been an education in itself, funds are needed to keep their kids in school. That's because none of the kids have been able to stay in the neighborhood schools where they were when their fathers made the bold move to take on General Motors. The workers, dismissed after becoming injured assembling vehicles for GM at its plant in Bogota, Colombia, decided to stand up and fight back, exposing decades of abuse by US automaker General Motors. Workers' struggles affect the whole family, from threats and retaliation to economic challenges. This preteen, whose name we're not using for security reasons, got herself a partial academic scholarship to the school she attends. Her efforts have paid off. She's doing quite well, especially in her English as a foreign language class. What does she want to be when she grows up? Well, President of Colombia, of course. We say yes to that. Yes to education. Yes to worker struggle. Help us bridge the gap between the scholarship and this year's cost of school. We're trying to raise $1000. Anything raised beyond that goal will go toward basic school supplies and required uniforms. It takes a village to raise a child, and sometimes a village to keep a child in school.
