Scott was diagnosed with a Sacral Chordoma in July of 2012. This is a rare type of bone cancer. After promptly having surgery to remove the tumor the doctors decided that this type of tumor would not easily be removed. Scott began radiation in December of 2012 and in February of 2013 had a second surgery. The second surgery was very evasive. His coccyx and sacrum were removed and a cadaver piece was added to his back. Because of this surgery Scott was unable to bend his body. He was required to lie down for 5 weeks for fear that the reconstruction of surgery site would tear. Scott stayed in an assisted living facility/rehabilitation center during these five weeks and learned how to strengthen his muscles and different ways of bending and lifting.
In August of 2014 Scott went in for a routine check-up and a new growth had started. In September of this year he had his third surgery. This surgery went very well. Now, it is December 2014, and Scott has recently gone in for his quarterly routine check-up and new growths have occurred. The growths are getting farther away from the original site and this has the doctors worried. There is one growth that is confirmed to be a Chordoma Tumor and there are additional growths that are showing up in the scans that the doctors are unable to verify what they are at this time. The doctors want to perform a bone scan and biopsy the growths. Here is where we need your help. On December 24th of this year Scott was laid off from his job. This job provided the needed insurance that would cover his surgery and follow up care. Donations you make will help cover medical expenses.
Scott and his wife Kylee live in Eagle Mountain, Utah. They have three children, Carter age 13, Hannah age 9, and Emma age 4.
