Scranton High School Windmill Fund

Renewable energy is the future. Non-renewable energy resources such as coal, petroleum, natural gas, and nuclear energy will eventually be consumed. Not only are these resources being depleted, they also have extremely negative effects on the environment when being extracted from nature.

Myself and a group of four other students at Scranton High School are currently trying to be the catalyst that initiates the switch to clean energy.  Years ago, a group of students from our school had a similar dream. Our teacher received half of the money for the project from grants and fundraising and was promised to receive the other half from our school district. Many engineers committed to volunteering for the project and an area on the school grounds was chosen for the windmill. Unfortunately, the school district was not able to provide the funds for the construction of the mill due to financial hardship. We are determined to resurrect the project and raise the money needed. All the previous grants given to the school for the project are still present and our teacher is still in contact with the engineers and other laborers that would be able to build the windmill.

Our goal is to receive the money as soon as possible to begin construction immediately.  The building of a windmill would help Scranton High School become an efficient green school. Achieving this goal would have a positive impact on our community and the student body. We appreciate any financial assistance and thank you in advance for your commitment in helping us achieve our goal.
