Sea to Sky Route Development Fund Phase 2

An update to the story.

The support of this fund has been amazing as the initial target of $3500 was clearly not enough for our climbing community. Route development continues unabated. To assist in the recording of routes in the Sea to Sky corridor, a new website has been launched: www.seatoskyclimbing.ca. New route info is posted there instead of this site as it has its limitations. To all of those that have contributed to this fund - THANK YOU!
2017
Fellow climber,

Have you ever climbed at the Commonweatlh in Murrin Park? How about sport climbed at the Playground, or Fern Hill or even climbed the classic multipitch Sunset Strip on the Chief. These are merely a few examples of new routes and crags that have been created in the last few years. To keep that progress going I am establishing a Gofundme account to help offset the cost of hardware that is borne by the route developer in the Sea to Sky corridor. Over the last number of years over 500 pitches have been established in the Sea to Sky corridor. From independent new lines to entirely new crags, thousands of hours have been put in by the route developer to create these routes. This involves trail work, cleaning the route and adding bolts and anchors if necessary. While the hours put in only cost time and energy, the cost of hardware is straight out of one's pocket. Currently, a bolt and hanger cost around $4, that's if purchased in bulk. Anchors, can range from $15 to $25 depending on the setup. Therefore a 10 bolt sport pitch can be at least $50. Not to mention the $1000 cordless hammer drill needed to install the bolts. Over the years the climbing public has asked route developers how they can help and the best way is with the almighty dollar! So it's time to ask the climbing community to chip in and help fund the routes they enjoy.

OBJECTIVE
The objective of this fund is to raise money to offset the purchase of bolts, hangers and anchors for ongoing development of routes and entire crags that span the entire grade spectrum from 5.6 to 5.13, trad and sport. 1000 bolts have already been purchased and we would like to buy 1000 hangers as well as anchors.

Updates:
As new routes are developed and ready to be climbed we will provide the info here.

Any donation is appreciated and comments or suggestions to improve this fund are welcome.
With your support the development will continue which means more routes and crags, covering a full range of grades and styles, for you to enjoy.

Update:
To satisfy the GoFundMe terms of service I have to provide the following information:

GoFundMe is not "free"as indicated on their site, they do take a percentage of your donation.

Me: I am a Squamish resident and have been climbing for 30+ years. I started developing routes around 2000.

Beneficiaries of the fund will be any route developer in the Sea to Sky that has already established at least 5 pitches on their own dime, that are of good quality, safe, and have been climbed by the general community. These requirements are important in making sure the hardware is distributed wisely and is not used for random one-off personal projects that the general climbing community can't enjoy. Those who do not meet the requirements can purchase the hardware at cost. The developers mentioned are not an exclusive list.

As previously mentioned the funds will be used for the purchase of hardware: bolts, hangers, anchor materials (chain, quick links). As already shown on this page, the materials are already being purchased by me,and receipts posted to the site I will use the money to reimburse myself. Unused money will be left in a bank account for further orders. The longer term plan is to move the money into a proper organization that can deal directly with route development.
