Bringing any child into your family requires financial resources, but adoption carries a particularly heavy price...
My wife, Jennie, and I have a vision and a burden for raising a loving family. We know we have so much to give children in the form of love, care, and attention. It is our greatest desire to have a family. Unfortunately, we are unable to have our own natural children. We always knew we wanted to adopt at some point, but life has made it our best remaining option!
We started this journey a couple of years ago by contracting with an adoption agency who would begin searching for potential matches. When you sign up, you start paying their fee even before they find a match for you. In this case, their fee was over $24,000. When you include home study fees, travel expenses, finalization fees, lawyers, etc., this will bring our costs up to easily over $40,000. After a year, we got a call about a little boy from a completely different source. We hadn't had any matches yet from our agency, but we knew this baby was meant to be with us!
We adopted our son a little over a year ago, but in order to do that we had to go through the agency his biological mother was already working with: a different agency from the one we were with. In short, we had to take on the financial weight of paying for two separate adoptions at once! While we are still paying monthly on our original adoption loan, the last-minute scenario with our son's birth meant we had to come up with almost $20,000 right away. This depleted our reserves and put us in debt.
Our little boy has been a light to our world and we wouldn't change anything about the circumstances that brought him into our lives! And we look forward to the adventure and joy of bringing home a second child once he or she is identified. But in the meantime, we are still paying off two adoption fees, and it's a heavy load on our finances. That's why we setup this page to ask for your help.
We realize that everyone has their own obligations and that times are tough. But if you're able to contribute any amount at all to helping us through this financial crunch, we would be forever grateful! You're not doing it for Jennie and me.
