Sewing machines for widows in India

Donation protected
Help widows in India get a sewing machine so that they can support themselves and their children!

These widows are known as "tiger widows" because most of their husbands were killed by tigers.  In their culture, without their husband, they are now destitute and in one of the lowest levels of society.  There are entire villages of "tiger widows" because they are separated from the rest of the society.

Currently, one of the local pastors and his wife have begun a sewing program to teach some of these widows a trade so that they can support themselves and their children.  So far, 20 women have completed the training, but they still have no sewing machine to begin working.  There are 32 more women who are currently in the training and will need a machine soon.  The photo is of 6 of these women who need a machine.

The machines are $150 each.  Money raised by this campaign will be sent to Global Mercy Foundation for the purchase of sewing machines.  Global Mercy Foundation helps support the local pastors in India, as well as funds the sewing program, among other needs.  You can view their website here:  http://globalmercyfoundation.com
