BIG REVEAL!  SPECIAL PROJECT!  FUN TIMES!  ART & MUSIC!  LETS GO!

On this very special night the The Factory will also be revealing for the very first time their new look interior walls decorated in original Sh!tshow portraits made of some of the finest musicians in Los Angeles today.
Floor to ceiling and every way around, the expansive venue is to be entirely collaged with large quality prints of nearly 200 individual rockstar talents, all staring back into this acclaimed DIY spot and watching over us all, forever and ever (well at least until the building is demolished to make way for g̶e̶n̶t̶r̶i̶f̶i̶c̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ affordable homes.

This is a permanent site-specific art installation, eschewing traditional gallery presentation of portraits in favor of a more honest approach to experiencing photography: big and loud and up close, this is an authentic celebration of a unique musical scene whilst venerating the very people that make 2018 in Los Angeles a special time and place indeed.

SH!TSHOW NEEDS YOUR HELP

This project is about you, and for you.  Sh!tshow loves everyone, and everyone is welcome to this free party on July 28th!

This crowdsourcing campaign only seeks your support in covering the costs of producing the works to be permanently displayed at The Factory.  These costs are restricted to printing, installation and event costs - Sh!tshow is not interested in making money on this project or the party.

The photography work has already been made so lets finish it by bringing it into physical existence.  Lets turn these walls into an iconic canvas of beautiful faces, a place we can share and enjoy as our own.

Sh!tshow is excited to present this as an opportunity to work together to cultivate something human and alive as an honest reflection of the local music we all cherish.

Music can be how we understand ourselves and each other.

There are various ways you can help and all with excellent rewards for your generosity.

Sh!tshow is not seeking corporate sponsorship and does not wish to sell it off to the highest bidder.  We own this and we can do this ourselves.  This is the spirit of The Factory, of the bands that play there, and of the Sh!tshow mission.

MOTIVATIONS

Rock & roll has been very good to Sh!tshow since arriving in Los Angeles in 2014 and discovering all this fine music.  There exists here a remarkable community of talented people making heck of beautiful noise in all the gloomy corners of this sprawling city, and Sh!tshow has been warmly invited to get stuck in and be involved in this flourishing scene.

This project aims to shine a light on the very best of these individuals, to commend their art and to crystallize this moment we happen to be sharing.

Nobody can stop time, but portraits can remind us of being here right now.   That is the remarkable power of photography.

WHY BOTHER?

Put simply, we all love music.  We can't get enough of the rock show.

But it also might just be bigger than that.  All around us there is strife and struggle and despair.  Bear with us here, as Sh!tshow is about to go deep: the world is experiencing many challenges, at a time when some monsters amongst us simply want to watch the world burn.  Many of us feel stranded and helpless to the big issues of our time: our leaders are crooks, our icons are perverts, the natural earth is poisoned and there's a Cheeto™ in the Whitehouse.

And yet remarkably we still have so much to which we can look forward.  Sh!tshow embraces the power of music to transcend our differences and obliterate everything attempting to hold us back.  Whether it is for one song, a whole show or a specific artist, music is the rhythm of resistance and we have a duty to get involved.

Sh!tshow can't talk politics but instead strives to make a positive contribution to art and music in LA through photography.  Sh!tshow doesn't really know anything else.  But big ideals require a big effort, and together anything is possible.

Celebrate your friends, embrace their art, be good to one another.

ABOUT SH!TSHOW

Sh!tshow is the friendly moniker of David Fearn, a British-born editorial photographer now based in Los Angeles with his amazing wife Kelsey.  Together they are massive fans of everything rock & punk and are fully invested in L.A.'s underground scene.  David and Kelsey attend multiple shows per week across the city, preferring small venues and DIY spots over the big lights of theaters and stadiums.
David and Kelsey are blessed to call many of these soaring musicians their friends, and are immensely proud of the wider community of artists, bookers, photographers and venue owners making their contribution to the scene in Los Angeles today.

David's work documenting live music and musician portraiture can be seen at www.davidfearn.com and also on Insta @shitshowdave.
