#HealingRides is an award-winning national program, using these #DUET custom-built 'tandem' bikes; the tandem consisting of part wheelchair, part bicycle, where the wheelchair is designed to attach and detach for whatever fun trip you are signed up for.
At this stage 'national program' means it's replicable in any County. But you have to first acquire the bike/s..;
Other lucky counties in the USA and Canada already have non-profit programs offering these amazing bikes for folk to take folk on lovely bike rides on tree-lined bike paths. The program is called "Healing Rides". Red Cross recently gave a "heroes award" to one of these "Healing Rides" groups on the East Coast.

About the DUET Tandem wheelchair bicycle
Santa Cruz County has yet to acquire even one of these innovative wheelchair bicycles. So we figured we could facilitate the acquisition of the first one for Santa Cruz County, break it in(!), and donate it to our very own beloved and awesome Santa Cruz SHARED ADVENTURES 501(c)3. Shared Adventures concurred. :)
Just think, sunshine, fresh air, outdoors, super-mobility for someone who is otherwise confined to indoors, and for whom a car has been the only option for getting out and about.

So she's coming to Santa Cruz from England on April 13 and staying for 3 weeks.
*SHE is Yinka; intrepid, fun, and adventurous(see link below), and she happens to be quadriplegic.
*WE are dedicated urban bicyclists and we want to transport her with us on our bikes..; for this length of days (not get relegated to a car for transport). We were wondering just how to rig it, when we discovered this "DUET tandem bicycle"; specially designed wheelchair that attaches and detaches from a specially built, pedal-assist bicycle. And thus thi Santa Cruz Shared Adventures GoFundMe campaign was launched for an April 2018 all-round Big Wish....; more than one bike's worth, we'll take it!!
