shawna & jasper sustaining fund!

We're raising money to support our friends Shawna and Zoe in their upcoming move to Arizona  October 12th. Shawna and Zoe are both loved by their community and deserve to have as much ease as possible in their upcoming transition. Let's show up for the homies and help alleviate some stress!

Due to the current incarceration of 3 of Shawna's family members, Shawna and Zoe will be leaving their home here in the Bay Area of thirteen and seven years respectively to act as the primary care givers for six children who are impacted by the situation, including an infant as young as one and a half years old.

Between the costs of relocating to a different city, supporting three incarcerated family members' commissary & collect calls for several years, and providing round the clock childcare while living in Arizona we are asking friends, family, and community for support. They will have a lot on their plate daily so having tangible resources in aiding them throughout this experience will be invaluable.   




Shawna has worked at Bay Area Girls Rock Camp as Co-executive director and Program and Outreach co-ordinator for the last five years, supporting and empowering youth through music and serving as a mentor with her presence. She is a community organizer, DJ, multi-instrumentalist musician and a compassionate force for POC, queer and trans communities in the Bay Area and beyond. She co-organizes The Multivrs is Illuminated fest, which for the past two years has highlighted and uplifted the creative brilliance of QTPOC musicians and artists. 

Zoe has volunteered for years at BAGRC as a roadie and instrument tech, has been pursuing training as an auto- mechanic in the Bay Area to support their family and community and is a consistent, loving supportive presence to the people they call their friends and loved ones. Zoe is also a talented multi-instrument musician and has been supporting Bay Area queer/trans DIY for the past seven years.


Shawna and Zoe have listened to, supported, and shown so much love to so many of us in their time here. They have both in their own ways shaped the Bay Area queer community with their loving support as friends and long hours spent making shows, parties and other events happen for all of us.
