Shélan O'Keefe Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Last month, my daughter, Shélan suffered a devastating physical and emotional breakdown.
Unable to travel on her own, I had to fly to Atlanta to bring her home. Since then she's been hospitalized three times and unfortunately, she hadn't completed the ACA before she fell ill.
Without insurance, huge bills are piling up fast. Since leaving Atlanta she hasn't worked and won't be able to anytime soon. Caring for her around the clock has made it impossible for me to work and has drained our bank accounts. Her band, Swellshark was working to complete their second album, but that's been put on hold. And until she's recovered, neither of us will be able to work full time.
Moving forward, she'll need intensive outpatient care, which is costly, but imperative for her recovery. It's our hope, that with time and care, she'll be made whole again. But without insurance and decimated bank accounts, our options are extremely limited. Our dear girl, who has always done whatever she can to help others, is now in desperate need of help herself. She has friends and fans worldwide and it is our hope that y'all will be able to help in her hour of need.
The funds raised will be used to keep both Shélan and her family afloat until we're able to return to full-time employment. The costs so far (emergency travel, doctor's visits, commuting, etc.) have been enormous.
Especially since I'm not generating regular income during what has always been one of the busiest times of the year. We applied for the ACA for her before the deadline and hopefully she'll be approved. Until then, we'll use funds to pay for continuing care and to help support Shélan until she's back on her feet.
She's accomplished so much in her young life and was building a beautiful future for herself. Now she's literally starting over. Your generous donations and sharing her story, will help us help her.
Any donation, large, or small will be most helpful and whether you're able to give at this time, or not, please share this campaign far and wide.
All good wishes,
Cassandra
