My German-Sheppard Puppy,
Diagnosed at an early age,
With a Double Hip Dysplasia.
I have an 11-month-old German Shepard, named Sheppy. He has a severe hip dysplasia on both sides, with muscle atrophy, and aggressive degenerative joint disease.
I just got the terrible diagnosis from his vet a couple days ago (on April 13, 2017). Sheppy’s one year old birthday is a few days away on Monday, April 17.
My Sheppy limps when he walks and has a very hard time getting up and down stairs as well as laying down. I can feel his pain just by looking at him, and my heart breaks just to know that he is not ok.
In the meantime, I am giving him some pain relieving and anti-inflammatory medications as his vet prescribed.
The vet suggested that Sheppy needs a double hip replacement surgery as soon as possible due to the severity of his case. He referred me to apparently the only two Specialty Care Clinics in NYC.
The average cost of just one side can cost $5,500+. Not including the evaluation fees and cost of the periodic x-rays that follow, which are hundreds of dollars.
When I realized this would cost me a fortune, my headache just got bigger and more painful.
I am a 20-year-old college student, majoring in psychology. Holding summer jobs, that don’t really pay that much...And let’s not forget about my college student loan debt.
It’s frustrating to think that even if I save everything I make from my summer jobs and my job at school, I wouldn’t be able to afford the cost of this surgery.
That’s why I have created this fund. I am hoping to raise $12,000 to get Sheppy the double hip replacement that he so desperately needs. I only have a couple months to get this surgery before his back legs collapse completely.
If you have ever have felt the pain of any pet just by looking at him or her, you will know what I am talking about.
I please ask you to help me raise the funds to save my Sheppy.
I am in a very difficult situation, and my main goal is to be able to collect funds to cover for my Sheppy’s hip replacement surgery.
