Love and Justice for Humanity was created by Shanna Poteet and Reena Bana in January of 2018 in response to the lack of child abuse and neglect laws in America. We are an established Non-Profit organization registered with the State of Texas.
Love and Justice for Humanity is currently working with local Representatives and Lawmakers in Texas to help pass Sherins Law in 2019. This law would make it a felony for any child between the age of 5 and 8 years old to be left at home alone. Currently, there are no laws in the State of Texas, in fact only three States have a similar law. Sherins Law would also bring harsher punishments for child abusers and help keep parents accountable. Too often, children are left unattended where a disaster or emergency might occur. This law would also bring harsher punishments for parents or guardians who do not report the death of a child or a missing child to the appropriate authorities in a timely manner.
Sherin Mathews was a 3 yr old little girl in Richardson, Tx. who was not only left at home alone often, but she suffered severe abuse at the hands of her adoptive parents. Her dissapearance and death, which was ruled as a homicide, was not reported to the appropriate authorities. Her abuse was reported by her Pediatrician who submitted a complaint to CPS which ultimately slipped through the cracks before her untimely demise.
Sherin Mathews story is just one example of many children who have suffered abuse and neglect. The ultimate goal of our organization is to implement harsher punishments for child abusers not only in Texas, but nationwide. The time for change is now, we need harshers child abuse laws.
The ultimate goal of our organziation is to continue to work with Representatives, Law Enforcement, and Legislators to help in the fight against child abuse as well as human trafficking. We have many plans for our future which include assisted living and safe houses for child abuse and human trafficking victims.
Please help us in the fight to save our future generation and protect our children of today for a brighter tomorrow.
