Dear brothers and sisters, God bless you. Our Rescue Mission was birthed on a tiny 2,400 square feet property in Pinellas Park, Florida in 1988. During April of 2013, after twenty-five years of continuous growth and service, we moved to our present greatly enlarged campus in St. Petersburg, Florida. May I present the joys of answered prayer which leads to the pure life in serving the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us look at these last three years of our ministry to God's people:
YEAR 2013
269.............................salvations for Christ
1,860,539...............pounds of free food distributed
1,240,359...............meals to poor families and homeless
$3,721,078............IRS value of the food
YEAR 2014
671..............................salvations for Christ
2,017,762................pounds of free food distributed
1,345,174................meals to poor families and homeless
$4,035,524.............IRS value of the food
YEAR 2015 (so far to 07-31-15)
956...............................salvations for Christ
1,613,238.................pounds of free food distributed
1,075,492.................meals to poor families and homeless
$3,226,476..............IRS value of the food
TOTALS
1,896...........................salvations for Christ
5,491,539.................pounds of free food distributed
3,661,025.................meals to poor families and homeless
$10,983,078...........IRS value of the food
This Rescue Mission is a 501(c)3 nonprofit Florida corporation that is funded almost exclusively by prayers and love donations. Our only employee, the Executive Director, receives a salary of $22,522 per year and oversees approximately 35 volunteers. Consequently, a remarkable 96.3% of all the money and food donations that we receive goes out the door to serve the desparate needs (yep, desparate - if you were hungry and had to go to a Mission for help, you'd be desparate too) of thousands of poor impoverished families and homeless persons (men, women, and little children).
Summation: our Rescue Mission has been instrumental in providing over one million meals so far this year and 956 salvations (professions of faith), but we are experiencing a drastic donation shortfall of $5,000 per month and have been forced to start borrowing money and are now $29,000 in debt. It was either borrow money to keep the doors open or severely cut back on the food services that we freely provide, and to whom shall we say "No, sorry, no food"? We don't usually emotionally jerk people around with patrons' sobbing letters of gratitude nor pictures of bright-eyed poor little kids in tears or depressed homeless persons in smelly rags, but we need your help if we are to continue to serve these people, a people that no-one wants, a lonely hopeless people living on the sharp edge of survival. To live or die... and we can make all the difference. God bless you.
