Help Raise Awareness for Sickle Cell

Sickle Cell Disease is a hereditary blood disorder in which the body makes sickle-shaped red blood cells. Unlike normal round red blood cells, Sickle Cells are stiff and sticky. These cells block blood flow and can cause pain and/or organ damage. It causes extreme, unbareable pain, that can happen at any time making life hard for those battling it. Sickle Cell is taking the lives of children and adults all over the world, becuase of a lck of funding, and education. My fight with Sickle Cell started when i was born, but my fight to spread awareness and end sickle cell started with my blog , The Sickle Cell Diaries. Sickle Cell is the most common hereditary disorder but is NOT very well known and NOT well funded. MY dream is to start my own 501c3 focusing on supporting teenagers/young adults transitioning into adulthood and raising awareness for sickle cell through fun events. My ULTIMATE Dream is to start a Sickle Cell Community Center, where all with Sickle Cell in my area can come for support, to relax, and if they need a helping hand! I am young but determined to help and fight for all of my fellow SickleCellStrong.  

With the money that you donate I will be able to start my own non-porfit 501c3 AND start giving carepacks to children/teens that are admitted to the hospital with Sickle Cell pain or complications. The carepacks will include, snacks, drinks, herbal teas,thermacares, inspirtaional materials, and things to pass the time and get their mind off pain!
