Help us get school supplies to underprivileged kids and give them a chance of education.

The problem - poverty, lack of education, and human trafficking.

A staggering number of people live in poverty around the world and it’s all too easy to forget how lucky we are just to be born in the developed world.

Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world yet has some of the most giving and heartfelt people on the planet.

The AOKC and OrphanGift have been working tirelessly for the last year to help those in most need in this beautiful country.

One of the issues we care about most is that of child trafficking. This largely ignored subject is a huge problem in Nepal and it's estimated that every day more than 54 young girls and women are trafficked out of Nepal and into India to enter a life of slavery.

That equals 20,000 women and girls who are forced into labor & sexual exploitation each year in India alone. This number does not include those enslaved within their own country, which is believed to be even higher!

Part of the solution - education kits to help break the poverty cycle and prevent trafficking…

Our strategy to prevent trafficking in Nepal is two-fold. Initially we focused on community awareness campaigns to educate villagers about the dangers of traffickers and how they operate, which we successfully began earlier this year.

And in this second part we want to help encourage kids to attend school daily, and help support parents by providing items that they often just cannot afford.

Traffickers offer the fake promise of a boarding school education and deceive parents into handing over their children when in reality they are than sold into brothels or fake orphanages set up to solicit foreign donations.

Therefore, we want to buy school supplies for 1700 primary level kids who live in the Jharlang region of Nepal, which is not only deeply impoverished but also one of the highest risk areas for trafficking.

The most effective way to break the cycle of poverty is through education so providing supplies not only encourages kids to attend school but it's also better protects them from trafficking.

Our education kits costs only £8 (or $12)  per child, and includes a backpack full of all the books and stationery needed to attend school.

So what can you do to help?

Well AOKC together with OrphanGift are asking you to ‘Skip a Day in May’ and donate the cost of something you normally don't think twice about to this worthy cause.

Let us know what you skipped via your social using #SkipADayInMay or in your comments on this donation page, and knowing you are doing such good in the world, and seeing how awesome that makes you feel, we ask you to nominate 4 friends to do the same.

Examples of a similar daily spend might be:

-       a green juice
-       a couple of coffees
-       an Uber somewhere
-       a lunch
-       a pack of cigarettes
-       a bottle of wine
-       a cinema ticket

Please join us and Skip a Day in May!

The more we raise the more children can get an education kit and get a real chance in life, whilst being safe from traffickers.

Thank you so much for your support!
