Smiles By Sarah Charity Fundraiser

Smiles by Sarah was created to honor the memory of Sarah Kuti Frankenfield. Sarah was a young, healthy, middle school teacher who was planning her destination wedding when she received the devastating news that she had leukemia. Her family was shocked by the diagnosis that seemed to come out of nowhere. She had to cancel her wedding plans and begin treatment immediately. After bravely fighting the disease, and getting married in the hospital, Sarah lost her battle less than a year after she was diagnosed. She turned 29 nine days before her death in August 2010.
Smiles by Sarah's mission is to bring smiles to those who are struggling with disease or other hardships. We do a backpack drive each August and donate backpacks filled with school supplies to local children in need. We've donated 400 so far. Our main focus throughout the rest of the year are Cheer Chests. These are boxes filled with about 10 comfort items for those fighting a serious disease (mostly cancer) and are designed to be opened each day over a 10 day period. Our hope is to bring smiles to recipients as they open a new gift each day during their medical crisis. Sarah received a similar gift about a month before she died and it really lifted her spirits. We've been able to donate almost 450 Cheer Chests so far, thanks to local service projects and donations from the community.
Smiles by Sarah is a small family-run organization serving the residents of the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas in Pennsylvania. Check out our Facebook page or our website for more information. We need funds to be able to continue our mission and purchase the items needed for the backpacks and the Cheer Chests. We appreciate any small donation you can manage. Thank you so much for your support!
