SRHS Marching Band & Guard DC Trip
Donation protected
The Spanish River Silver Sound Marching Band and Color Guard have been honored with an invitation to represent The State of Florida by marching in the:
National Independence Day Parade, in Washington DC, July 4th, 2017
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
We are reaching out to local businesses, contributors to the arts, corporations and individuals to help defray the cost of this trip. We want every student to participate,
but the cost of the trip is beyond the means of some families.
An Award Winning Marching Band
The Silver Sound Concert Bands, Marching Band and Color Guard perform at various district-wide assessments and competitions. All have earned the rank of Superior (the highest rank possible) and significant awards at these events.
The Experience
Besides marching in the parade, this educational experience will include visits to many of our nation’s historic monuments and museums. We will attend the Capitol Fourth celebration tour of Arlington National Cemetery and participate in a special U.S. Military Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider.
Leader of the Marching Band
Since 2004, Craig White has been leading the Marching Band and Color Guard, as well as the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble and Winter Guard at Spanish River High School. Prior to that he taught in Seattle, Washington for 10 years. His leadership has given hundreds of students countless opportunities for leadership, musicality, discipline and teamwork. He chooses to dedicate countless hours to his students, enabling them to build character and form lasting friendships.
The Need
The cost of our participation in the National Independence Day Parade is in addition to our regular band fees. We are a team and we want ALL of our band and guard members to be able to attend this once-in-a-lifetime event!
