My Story

When I started our podcast and website a year ago, I never dreamed that we would be in the position to be able to engage our fandom at the level that we have. Even with partnering with our colleagues at the Geeks World Wide network, I continue to be amazed at the engagement that we have received from the Geek community at large. Our podcast Super Powered Fancast and our website superpoweredfancast.com are small, but we are dedicated to our love of movies, TV and comics.

The Opportunity and the Goal

Our goal is to report on the things that we love and engage with others who feel the same. While we have met many of our goals, one that has eluded us so far has been the ability to visit conventions and report on them as fans. This year, I finally got that opportunity. I have been given a press pass to attend Star Wars Celebration 2017 in order to report on the announcements and guests that will be in attendance. Unfortunately, as we are a free podcast and funded out of our own pockets, I can't afford to go. What I am seeking are the funds to fly from Birmingham to Orlando and the ability to afford both a simple hotel stay and the ability to Uber to and from the convention venue in order to report on and hopefully make contacts that I can hopefully parlay into interviews for the podcast and website.

The Need

There are many other campaigns that are worthy of attention and I know this might sound a little frivolous at first, but this opportunity is one that myself and my colleagues put a lot of time and effort into and we hope to continue doing so into the future. We are first and foremost fans and would like to view the things that we love from a positive place. My goal is to be reasonable with my expectations and realistic with my goals. I have no interest in anything other than travel expenses and accommodations. Everything else will be my responsibility.

Star Wars Celebration 2017 takes place April 13 - 16. In order to make sure that I can book a flight and hotel, I would like to have the funds by April 4, 2017.
