Sport the North Churchill
Donation protected
My name is Skylar Ferguson and I am a grade 12 student at Oak Park High School in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Sport the North is a new and gently used sports equipment drive for all ages to promote positive mental health within the Churchill and Kivalliq communities. We want to provide every child the opportunity to play sports regardless their financial resources.
Monetary donations will go towards purchasing at least 16 more Spikeball sets for the 8 other community recreational centres! Each set costs $85 plus tax.
Mental health is a huge issue for all northern community youth, with suicide being one of the main causes of death for youth. For positive mental health, it is imperative that we increase opportunities to keep the northern youth engaged in their communities, while also staying connected to the rest of Manitoba.
I will be holding a New/Gently used sports equipment drive for the Churchill/Kivalliq areas for individuals of all ages. I will also be collecting and buying new games, like Spikeball for the 9 community centres in these regions.
Spikeball generously donated 4 new sets for our Northern Communities. Two sets have been delivered to the Churchill Recreation Centre and the students love it!!!
