We need your help!!!

We are the longest, continually running Community Theater in the state of Vermont, on our 97th season and we will be turning 100 in 2020!!!

The Springfield Community Players are a 501(c)3, non-profit operating in the same building since 1979.   An old Elementary school built in the 1930's.

As all things, with time, comes wear, tear and updates that need to happen so we may continue to bring the Arts to a town ravaged by the loss of many manufacturing company's, factories and people. We are doing our best to provide low cost live entertainment to as many people as possible in the Southeastern corner of Vermont and Southwestern Corner of New Hampshire.

Our studio @ 165 South St. Springfield VT 05156  We are lacking a proper entrance ramp, waiting area and handicapped parking spots.  The blueprint below shows how we would take care of that, with outdoor covered patio and parking.  As well as the movement of walls to create better bathrooms and more efficient use of the space.
These are the proposed updates to our facility.

Who we are....
Mission Statement

This organization is for the purpose of creating and sustaining an interest in the arts, and particularly fostering the development of community theater; providing opportunities for the development of skills in all phases of the theater including drama, ballet, reading, music, and the art of staging and set design, and presenting theatrical works for the enjoyment and instruction of the public.

The audience view of the stage, you can clearly see the poles we have to work around and the ceiling fans that work hard to try and keep folks cool.
The mens room is a vast wasteland of unused space.
The costume room has been pared down, but we loan costumes to several community theater groups in the area.  We are currently cataloguing everything, but we need a safer space for storage.
Props, Props and more Props, we use and loan out so much to smaller acting groups, we have donated what we could to make room but we need a better organized space.
Our office space is cramped and stuffed, we often work from home as there is no room to accomplish simple tasks from the studio.
Our A/C, we really need to have this removed and a proper HVAC system installed with heat pumps, etc.
Our kitchen space is used to provide snacks and drinks to audience members at intermission and it's right next to our janitorial closet.  This needs to fixed.

The boiler room has old boiler pieces from when our building was used as an elementary school back in the 30's and 40's.  There are several old broken windows that are covered over that should be removed/repaired
Our Larger prop pieces are jammed together like a puzzle.
Our workshop needs more room to work and creating an outside storage outbuilding would improve this alot.
The view from our lighting/sound booth.
Every wall piece, door, window and stand we use is stacked backstage, we could have more elaborate productions if we could get this into a storage shed.

Springfield Community Players can trace its roots back to the fall of 1920, with the formation of the Dramatic Society by the Community Club of Springfield. The purpose of the club was to create and sustain interest in all matters pertaining to the drama. It was an exciting time for theater. Throughout Vermont, and in fact the entire country, community theater groups were being organized. Ninety-seven years later, the SCP is still active, claiming the title of the longest continuously operating amateur theater group in the state of Vermont.

What we are looking for from you and your freinds.  In the simplest terms, help.  We just need your financial help to improve our building.

We are looking to ......

-Update the HVAC, removing old duct work and replace the heating and non-existant cooling system so that we may become a year round facility.  Currently we close the building in November and open again in April.
- Update the bathrooms to make them more roomy and handicap accessible.
- upgrade office and storage space.  We are a cramped space and need to update walls, electrical, etc knock out walls and relocate others to provide a more efficient work space.
- Installation of a dry sprinkler system
- Upgrade the kitchen area and green room/rehearsal space/meeting room, for actors and guests to gather between acts/intermissions.
-Upgrade the marquis and signage to better advertise the shows we are sponsoring
- Upgrade or build a seperate outbuilding for storage of costumes, props and set pieces.
- Strengthening and upgrading of beams to allow us to remove poles that hinder performances and viewing of our audience members.
- Upgraded electrical, lighting, signage, exits, doors and parking.

This all takes a huge effort and, money.  We would appreciate any help we could get from you.  This our first attempt at capital campaigning.  We are attempting to solicit funds from several sources.  Grants, private donations and members.

If you'd like to become a member, we are always looking for actors, painters, carpenters, electricians, computer savey individuals etc.  We meet the 2 Tuesday of the month or you can check out our website and follow us on Twitter @SprfldPlayers (we've just started that up!!)
If you are a business and would like to offer a donation of a repair to something we are trying to fix we'd be happy to speak with you as well.

Thank you, in advance, for any donation you can provide.

"SEE YOU AT THE STUDIO!!!!"""""
