The forced displacement of hundreds of houseless people from the Springwater Corridor was traumatic for many. Tarps and tents were ripped or disintegrated, sleeping bags, bedding, and coats left behind or lost.
WINTER IS COMING QUICKLY. We must work fast and together to ensure people without access to housing or temporary shelter aren't left out in the rain and cold.
Please contribute what you can today to the grassroots organizations* supplying tents, tarps, sleeping bags, bedding, bus passes, hotel beds, hot showers, and more to Portland's houseless affected by the Springwater Sweeps.
For some, this means a temporary shelter bed, a motel room for a night or two, a bus ticket back to family, or for most people, help moving to another spot outdoors to sleep under a tree or in a tent.

BACKGROUND Deaths of houseless people in Multnomah County jumped last year over previous years, according to Street Roots :
"The trauma is overwhelming at times. Logical circumstances are rare. Reality is distorted and surreal. It’s what we call on the streets a “fuck all!” Meaning, there’s nothing even remotely rational about the circumstances we find ourselves in.... It isn’t meant to be."
