Stand with Abuse Survivors
Donation protected
Abuse within our scene is rife. Women and girls have suffered - and continue to suffer - sexual harassment and assault as well as emotional abuse at the hands of men quick to exploit their platform.
This isn't a new problem but it's finally a part of the public conversation. It's also nowhere near exclusive to our corner of the music industry, but we can help by starting with what we know.
With many of us shaken by what has come to light as of late, it's important we band together and do something proactive to support victims - it's okay to grieve a lost connection with music that was important to you, but theirs is the pain that matters.
We'll soon be receiving refunds on show tickets and vinyl orders - you may want to donate those, if you're in a position to afford it.
All donations will go to RAINN, the biggest anti-sexual violence charity in the US:
"RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault in partnership with more than 1,000 local sexual assault service providers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice."
If you're in the UK and would rather donate to a charity closer to home, you might consider Rape Crisis.
Don't worry if you can't donate - sharing the fundraiser is a great help. Most importantly, though - believe women, call out misconduct when you see it, and know that no matter how many stories surface there will always be a countless number of people unable to come forward.
