Stand With Shelly

Donation protected

For two years, Shelly Cohen has been a fixture at the Northgate QFC.  Whenever I get out of my car, I see him smiling in the parking lot. "Smiling helps you live longer," he crows, and holds up the latest edition of the Real Change newspaper.

But now the QFC district manager has decided Shelly has got to go, because one customer complained.  When he isn't selling Real Change News, Shelly is a school crossing guard.  When he saw a woman and her granddaughter behind a car that was preparing to back up, he asked the driver to stop.  That driver's complaint is the only basis on which QFC has banned Shelly from selling the Real Change News, and that's why Shelly is standing on the sidewalk outside the Northgate QFC.

While he's waiting, Shelly is missing out on income, and the holidays are an especially busy time.  It isn't a lot of money that he needs, but it's important that he makes enough to keep his rent paid, his electricity on, and for healthy food to help control his diabetes.  Please join me in donating, so Shelly can continue to keep the pressure on QFC.  Looking forward to seeing him back in the parking lot with the new issue of Real Change News.  #StandWithShelly
