Help Nuns Keep Their Convent
UPDATE:
March 10, 2018
On March 9th, 2018 we tragically lost Sister Catherine Rose, my beloved fellow IHM Sister and original organizer of this GoFundMe campaign. She was my cherished partner in this ongoing legal battle to keep our convent. It is now more important than ever to continue this fight and for our cause to prevail.

Love and blessings to all of you, our generous donors. We suffered an unfortunate setback yesterday in the American legal system. The truth did not come to light. But have faith - might does not make right. We are appealing this ruling, and rest assured, the truth will prevail.

I am Sister Rita Callanan of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, a pontifical order of Catholic nuns.
I am humbly asking for your help.
Our Order of Sister’s was very blessed to have been able to purchase our beautiful historic Mother House Convent in 1971. Over these many years we have used our Motherhouse to provide much needed aid and comfort to our local community. We helped the poor and less fortunate, hosted spiritual retreats, held fundraisers for local charities, sheltered battered women, and ministered to the sick and the needy.
Now, though, I am very sad to say it is we who are in terrible need.
We are at the brink of losing our beloved Mother House Convent. Against our best wishes, our affairs were taken over by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. We were evicted from our Convent, our ability to host religious retreats was shut down and they put an end to all other sources of revenue for us. Now they want to sell our Convent and keep the proceeds.
We had hoped to live out the remainder of our lives in the beauty and solace of our home. But through the terrible mishandling of our affairs by the Archdiocese and their lawyers, our Convent, now, must be sold.
Our plan was to leave our legacy to pope Francis. It is our dream that the proceeds from the sale of our Convent would go to helping the poor, the needy and immigrants all over the world seeking better lives.
Our dream may be lost.
We desperately need some financial help. We are currently fighting for our right to be recognized as the rightful owners or our own Convent property that we, the Imaculate Heart Sisters, bought in 1971 with the income that we earned as teachers and educators in the parochial schools of Los Angeles.
Please help us, blessings and thank you!!
